Immigration
With the changes throughout the world, economically, politically, socially, culturally and generally through development, there has been numerous changes to the Immigration Rules, resulting in the complete area becoming very piecemeal, especially in United Kingdom. Of recent periods, it can quite easily be that two people with the same backgrounds, will have different rules which apply to them, simply because of the short time difference between the lodging of the application. Consequently there has been a considered overhaul in the United Kingdom, but again bringing a substantial change to the sector with unfamiliar rules or the application of those rules, the outcome which can have very serious implication for the client.
Resultantly, we have specific legal representatives, who have experience of the various methods applicable to each clients needs, but also the time period applicable to each basis.
We are able to advise clients on all areas of immigration law, from basic visit visas to making appeals or applications for judicial review.
Immigration Enquiry
Charges and Expenses
Solicitors Fees:
Our fees refer to professional fees for advising you in connection with your immigration matter or enquiry only. This, if agreed, could include drafting and reading correspondence, preparing, and reviewing documentation, meetings, telephone calls and all incidental attendances thereto. These fees cover our office fees only in connection to an initial enquiry, visa, or application. If further work is required, it will not be covered by these fees. Please note that court fees and Home Office fees are not included in our fees. As these fees keep changing, we will inform you of the relevant fees before you instruct us to submit the relevant application.
For further information regarding Home Office fees, please visit www.gov.uk
We have two types of fees. Hourly fees where you will be charged for every hour (or part of the hour, broken down into 6-minute blocks,) worked on your file. Fixed fees, when agreed this mean that should you instruct us on the matter, this is the total fees you will be pay to our office in relation to work carried out by us on your file.
The exact number of hours needed depends on the circumstances in your case. For example:
- The complexity of your case
- The amount of evidence we need to review
- Your ability to speak English and fill in basic details
- Whether you have any dependants applying with you
In our initial meeting, we will assess your case based on the information you provided and will be able to provide an estimate of the work needed.
External fees:
Work carried out by others (e.g., barristers, translators, interpreters) is also not covered by the solicitors. These fees will vary according to each case’s requirement. For example, barrister fees could be between £250-2500; interpreters could cost £30-£60 an hour and between £0.15 to £1 a word. However, you will be advised in advance of the potential expenses before we instruct any third party on your behalf.
Hourly Rate Fees:
We will be happy to offer our services concerning all fixed fees below on hourly bases. Our hourly fees are calculated using the below hourly rates in addition to Vat (where applicable). The hourly rate will also depend on the level of experience of the caseworker dealing with your matter and the complexity of the matter. Details of the hourly rates are as below:
Hourly Rate of Solicitors and legal executives with over 8 years’ experience: £261
Hourly Rate of Solicitors and legal executives with over 4 years’ experience: £218
Hourly Rate of Other solicitors or legal executives and fee earners of equivalent experience: £178
Hourly Rate of Trainee solicitors, paralegals, and other fee earners: £126
Routine letters that we write, routine calls that we make and receive will be charged as units of 1/10th of an hour.
However, depending on the complexity of your case, we will be happy to discuss our fee estimates and hourly rates with you to give a closer estimate of the total likely costs.
Fixed fees will vary based on the type of work required and the seniority of the caseworker. Please see estimated fixed fees below.
Fixed Fees:
Unless, your invoice says otherwise, the fixed fees will cover all solicitor fees in connection to the specified visa or application. As most of our non-UK resident clients are not liable to pay VAT, the fees below will be added 20% VAT if the potential client is liable to pay VAT. You will be informed about VAT and any other extra charges before you sign our client care letter (the agreement between you and our office).
Timeframe:
If you choose to pay our standard fees, we will endeavor to attend to your queries and carry all work within fifteen working days from when we receive your instructions or the day we receive any relevant correspondence, documentation, or information. We will aim to conduct all relevant tasks before any external deadline. Therefore, you must provide us with all relevant information/documents by the deadline we agree so that we can meet external deadlines. If you choose our VIP service, we will endeavor to conduct all related work within three working days from the date of instruction, correspondence, or submission of required documents. If you submit all required evidence, information, or documents by the deadline we set for you, we will the aim to meet any external deadlines (e.g., submitting a fresh application before the expiry of your current visa).

General Fees Notes
We will endeavour to give clear advice on your immigration matter. As advices are given in English, presume you have a sufficient understanding of the language. Should you require an interpreter or a translator, you must advise so for which additional fees will be charged.
If we discover that there are any complications with your case, we shall inform you of the same. In such a case, we might advise that a second opinion or a barrister consultation might be required, and you will bear the cost of such legal disbursements. However, we will not seek any external advice without your prior consent.
We advise that you are likely to have no right to claim for refund of your fees paid for our services.
In addition to the time spent, we may take into account a number of factors, which include the complexity of the issues, the speed at which action must be taken, the expertise or specialist knowledge that the case requires. On the basis of the information, you provide from the outset, we expect these factors to be adequately covered by the hourly or fixed rates agreed. The rates may be higher, if for example, the matter becomes more complex than expected; we will notify you of this.
The fixed fee quoted to you in our first meeting relates only to the agreed upon matter, in so far as your instructions are provided on date. If however, any incidental works needs to be done then a future quote for that work will be given or alternatively a charge rate of our hourly rate as displayed on this page.
Please note that if your matter relates to a Fixed Fee Agreement, then the hourly rates will not apply. However, in case of any changed instructions / mis-advice by you, there maybe costs incurred, and in that case fixed fee rate will be removed automatically.
Please also note that if you wish to withdraw your instructions, then Veritas Solicitors are entitled to charge you on an hourly rate and deduct any outstanding money from your agreed fixed fee payment.
If you require a copy of your file, then there will be a minimum charge of £25.00 for administration costs for recovering the file from the archive and there could also be a cost for photocopying the file of papers.
